Yeah - whats with this "EnglishMEN" thing... pffftttt....

    :p

Yes, wouldn't that leave out the Irishmen, Scotsmen and the hobbits et al. and ofcourse EnglishWOMEN :D

I think IV is there for Green card issues. Please refrain from saying Englishmen, chinamen etc....,

    Yes, please don't do that.

but I did my bit because I could not attend. I was part of the rally that happened in San Jose.

Please try to understand the message I am conveying rather than making fun. Although I did have a hearty laugh :)

We are just having fun because, if you had seen the rally you would have noticed the diversity even though the majority was Indian or Indianmen and Indianwomen

Does this attorney approachable ? Does he answer your phone calls ?
Does he promptly reply to your emails ? Does he clarify your doubts ?

Do you deal with him directly or does your company rep speak for you ?

How is his fees ? Is he expensive or affordable ?

I highly recommend for all of the reasons I have posted earlier on this page (pg 5) and 1 more:
Andrew himself is an immigrant from UK - he went to law school in Florida and had to endure the painful green card process himself.

He is very responsive to both phone calls and emails.

He will deal with you directly or with your company - any way you wish.

And most of all he is thoroughly professional - but extremely affordable - he only charged me+family total $1600 for entire GC processing starting from PERM --> I-140 --> I-485/EAD/AP (for me and my wife).

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    netnerd

... He can veto the immigration reform the Dems propose by saying its not along the lines he wanted it to be. So Rumsfield resignation is a good sign if you look at the over all picture. It also means the Dems are going to spend less time setting up inquiry commitees on everything the President & Republicans have done in the last 6 yrs thus moving forward quickly.
    ...

Senate and President were always supportive of CIR but the House was not.
Mr. Specter mentioned "... if House members do not like the way illegal immigration was handled, tell us in a conference we will change it...". But the house rejected CIR.
Please see Rumsfield resignation does not make any difference as far as President's position w.r.t to CIR.

I am wondering if there is any push by the immigrant community to urge US govt to let H4 people to work!!!

    Dear ALL,

I have written directly to the President-elect Barack Obama in response to an invitation to contribute to his Citizen Briefing Book in his change.gov website.

PLEASE GO to this link and VOTE for this article in order that it may be taken up by the Charter to be presented to the President. Click here ---

:D Where have we heard this before.

To any member who has been looking at some of the posts since April/May of this year it will be apparant that there has been an attempt by the ultra conservative, anti-immigration groups to create a divide among legal and so called illegal immigration issues. It was good to see that most members perceived this and stayed away from singing the legal vs illegal immigration tune.

Now comes the lame attempt to play on your fears again. What would happen to you if all these so called "illegals" were to get in line ahead of you? The knee-jerk reaction is so obvious. If you see deeper, you will find that all this is but wenting of frustration by the anti-immigration groups on their major loss in the recent elections.

There is a precedent for this behaviour. After the CIR was passed in Senate in May earlier this year, these same anti-immigration group members posted so many inflamatory posts that created a bad vibe on this forum. Well today is a redo of that. Just count the number of posts and you will know what I mean. ;) I urge all members to look at the new ray of hope provided by the change in the new congress and ignore attempts to dampen your enthusiasm in garb of fair and balanced aka an anti-immigration spin :)

Visa recapture legislation such as H.R. 5882, is "one of the few bills that have the actual opportunity of getting done this year because of bipartisan support." Narasaki said this is also an opportunity to hold Congress' "feet to the fire" and see if those who claim that they are for immigrants, just against illegal immigration, really mean what they say.

    Hi folks,
I used to work in company A where my I-140 got approved but I was laid off. Now I am with company B in a higher position and pay but B has delayed filing my PERM. As the economy is bad so I am looking to go back to A and file 485 when PD is current. I need to give a copy of H1 for transfer from B to A. Will i be needing the original H1 copy from B at any time as B gave me a copy not the original (weird).

    Thanks

Jchan, I completely agree with you. We should look into how we can get attention of this to the concerned people and not side tracked.

Hi kate123, either it is a legislative fix or not, it's not up to us to decide. I saw the danger of our time and effort being sidetracked by trying to argue whether it's a legislative or administrative fix. The new secretary has made it clear that she is willing to push for BOTH Administrative AND Legislative fix if it's deemed necessary. Our goal should be bringing enough attention to her on the pre-application issue and convince her it's a meaningful change that will help both the DHS and the applicants, so she will push for changes. Please let me know if you agree.

Come on man....there is nothing called transfer. Every H1B is new. Only thing is its not counted against the cap when you change the employer.

    Thanks snathan, for the response.

I too think every H1B is NEW. Why I am stressing on this point is, since I am in the 'situation' now, I feel little pinch and I was looking for any pointers that closes the door for this doubt. Just like the one desi3933 pointed out.

I am confident and feel pretty safe now. Thanks to Desi3933

Like many suggested here, I go with the attorney and have him/her answer the RFE.

I will update the thread as I find more to help this community with similar situation.

I am not sure why we are focusing so much on the negatives of Plano meeting. There were so many new members for this meeting. I am not sure why nobody is focusing on this positive outcome.

Yes, there was certainly a positive outcome as well. This meeting certainly established some members (Mostly who attended - Most old , some new) as "dedicated ones". Now coming to your question... I would not say it as "negatives".. rather I would say it as "self correction"... If I have some flaws or my organization has some flaws, it is my duty to recognize it and try to correct it. If these self correction methods applied to very early stage of organization, it would be good for everybody in a long run. No organization can run without accumulative efforts from everybody. Yes, in Dallas we have many dedicated members but when you see some members dedicating time, money, communication and others even not attending the meet forget about contributing efforts then something is definately wrong and you need to accept it and adddress it. I think needhelp and logiclife are doing that here.

One thing everybody need to understand is that we are sitting on a fire and with getting EAD if we do not want to understand that fact than nobody can save us. Collective efforts bring enthusiasm, oneness and societal brotherhood feelings which pushes more to people for standing up for the cause. Now say if we do not address this then what will happen is slowly people dedicating will be disheartening for putting more rigorus efforts which situation definately demands. I request all members to analyze this with calm mind and if you feel truth in this please start sharing all kind of required efforts sincerely and help us create a miracle. Yes it will be miracle to convince congress and senate for bringing solution to our problems.

Did you get the email today that it was rejected? Also when did the package reach USCIS?

    Updates:

I got an email from my law firm, that my packet was refused to be accepted by USCIS.
I received the email from my law firm (Monday night - July 2) that:
Please note however your case was sent to Nebraska last night and did arrive - we tried!

Which means mine was sent or reached NSC sunday night or must have been hand delievered early Mon morning. Don't know exactly what happened. I just trust them!!!!

I didn't bother to ask my law firm further details. I will ping them first thing monday morning and try to give any update I get. I hope they have some proof of the refusal!!!!!!!............

Thank you for sharing with me your support for comprehensive immigration reform. I appreciate hearing from you and share your concerns.

While the United States cannot afford to absorb all those who want to settle here, we are a nation of immigrants. My mother came to the United States from Lithuania with her parents when she was two years old, and our family created a new life in Illinois. It is a testament to the greatness of this nation that the son of an immigrant can rise to represent the state of Illinois in the Senate.

At the same time, our nation faces a host of problems as a result of years of inattention to our immigration policies. The Homeland Security Department estimates that about 11 million people in the United States do not have legal status, including those who enter the country illegally and those who overstay a temporary visa. I have worked to reform our immigration system comprehensively and in a way that is tough, realistic, and consistent with our moral values.

While there currently is no comprehensive immigration reform bill in the Senate, I recently joined a number of Senators in releasing a blueprint outlining the basic principles that a reform measure should include. The plan would improve border security by increasing manpower and deploying new technology. It would strengthen enforcement against employers who hire illegal immigrants. Today, undocumented workers are often exploited by employers who hire them. Strengthening the penalties for employers who hire undocumented workers will ensure that both immigrants and citizens who work here are protected by our wage and labor laws.

If we are serious about reform, we need a realistic approach to the millions of undocumented immigrants who already live and work in our country. We need to offer immigrants who work hard and demonstrate a long-term commitment to be law-abiding, contributing members of our society a chance to pay fines and earn their way to permanent legal status over the course of many years.

If we do not give people who are already a part of our communities the chance to earn their way to legal status, we will not solve the problem of illegal immigration. People who are living here illegally will stay in the shadows instead of coming forward to register with the government.

Immigration is good for America, but an employer's first job offer should go to any American who is willing and able to fill the job. I have been concerned about the potential impact of past proposals for temporary guest worker programs on the American workforce. In many industries, the assured availability of large pools of guest workers will give employers an incentive to pass over American job applicants in favor of foreigners willing to work for less pay and fewer benefits. During the immigration debate, I offered a Hire Americans First amendment to require employers to seek American workers for their open positions before they try to bring in guest workers. I have also introduced legislation to combat abuses in the H-1B visa program.

There is no perfect solution to the problems we face as a result of our broken immigration system. Today, our borders are not secure, our workplace enforcement laws need reform, and our immigration policy fosters a shadow economy for millions of immigrants who simply want to demonstrate that they can be hardworking contributors to the greatness of our country.

I will continue to work for a package of reforms that will protect American workers and that will be tough, enforceable, economically sensible, and morally defensible. I will keep your views in mind as the debate continues. Thank you again for contacting me. Please feel free to keep in touch.

    Sincerely,
    Richard J. Durbin
    United States Senator
